Labor Day weekend is about the people who make Nevada work — and there is a party to prove it. Congressman Steven Horsford's annual Workers & Families LaborFest returns Saturday, September 5, and Local 1224 members and their families are invited. It is free, it is family-friendly, and no registration is needed. Just show up hungry.
Saturday, September 5 · 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.
Craig Ranch Regional Park, 628 W. Craig Rd., North Las Vegas, NV 89032. Free BBQ, live music, kids' activities, and community resources. No RSVP required — come as you are and bring the family.
What's happening
The organizers expect hundreds of people from across the valley, and the lineup is a proper Labor Day cookout:
- Free BBQ and tacos — lunch is on the house from 11 to 2
- Live music, including mariachi
- Kids' activities — this one is built for families
- Community resources from local organizations
- On-site voter registration for anyone who wants it
More than anything, it is a celebration of Nevada's labor history and the working families who carry it — which includes every one of us at the Medical Center and the clinics.
The flyers — share them
The invitation comes with flyers in English and Spanish. Forward them to a coworker, post them in the break room, and bring a neighbor — filling the park is the whole point.

LaborFest 2026 is hosted by Congressman Steven Horsford's campaign organization (the flyer notes it is paid for by Nevadans for Steven Horsford), not by AFGE Local 1224. The Local is sharing the invitation as a community notice; attendance is voluntary and on your own time.
