AFGE secures over $100K for members facing workplace discrimination
AFGE's Women and Fair Practices team won more than $104,000 for members in recent workplace discrimination settlements, plus restored leave and accommodations.
AFGE's Women and Fair Practices (WFP) team is winning the fight against unfair treatment on the job, securing more than $104,000 in monetary awards for members who faced workplace discrimination. The team's attorneys are prevailing in equal employment opportunity (EEO) cases both in front of judges and through settlements with agencies.
The recent settlements covered discrimination based on age, race, gender, disability, reprisal, failure to provide a reasonable accommodation, sexual harassment, and hostile work environment. Beyond the financial awards, members also won non monetary remedies, including restored leave, reasonable accommodations, and corrected performance evaluations.
Fighting these cases matters because it stops discrimination at the source and forces management to treat everyone with respect. By standing up for members, AFGE helps protect their jobs, their livelihoods, and their dignity at work.
Winning takes more than the WFP legal team. It takes strong local leaders who can spot workplace problems and push back. To build that capacity, WFP is hosting its Service Through Action and National Development (S.T.A.N.D.) training conference from July 31 to August 3 in Atlanta, equipping local representatives with tools and strategies to defend members' rights.
Facing discrimination at work?
You do not have to handle it alone. If you believe you are being treated unfairly because of who you are, contact the Local and request representation. Cases like these are exactly what the union is built to fight.
